Advantages of Dental Implants

Feb 17, 2017

If your dentist has mentioned dental implants as an option to restore your teeth, you probably have a lot of questions about this procedure. We’re going to talk about the advantages of dental implants and why they are superior to partial or full dentures.

Dental Implants Look and Feel Natural
Dental implants are the best choice for people who need to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or even the entire top or bottom set of teeth. Many people have lost teeth from a fracture, trauma, or periodontal disease. Instead of getting full and partial dentures (sometimes called bridges), you have teeth that look exactly like your natural teeth.  Aesthetically, dental implants are the best choice that you can make, and they last a lifetime.  They are also:

  • Strong . Implants are made from titanium, a material that easily bonds with the surrounding bone, and it’s also compatible with the human body.
  • Independent of other teeth. Partial bridges usually require the surrounding teeth to be disturbed in some way. Implants do not.
  • Used to Replace Loose Dentures. Many times, the adhesive used for dentures will not work as it should, causing embarrassment for the wearer. Implants never come out and are solid, allowing you to eat, talk and chew as you normally would.

What is the Implant Procedure?
Implants are surgically placed into your jawbone and act as your missing tooth’s root. After the implant has had time to fuse to the bone, a crown is then put on top of the implant. The crown matches your natural teeth, and once your dentist gived you the go-ahead, you can bite down, chew, and eat with your implants, just like you would a regular tooth.

You deserve teeth and a smile that are completely natural. Your dental implant treatment plan will be customized for your needs.
