How Long for Invisalign to Straighten my Teeth

Jul 03, 2019

If you’re looking for a discreet way to straighten your teeth, you may have already begun to consider Invisalign. When comparing different orthodontic treatments, you may be wondering how long each treatment will take to give you the beautiful straight smile you are trying to achieve.

How Invisalign Treatment Times Vary

Treatment time for Invisalign varies depending on a variety of factors. In most cases, it can take 12 to 18 months for Invisalign to straighten your teeth. More complicated cases, such as crowded teeth can have a treatment time of 24 months or longer.

Treatment time varies based on:

  • How much your teeth need to move to achieve the desired results. The greater the distance your teeth need to move, the longer your Invisalign treatment will take.
  • The complexity of your case. The more complex your case is, the longer your treatment will take.
  • How consistently you wear your aligners. Invisalign aligners should be worn 22-23 hours a day. If they are not worn long enough each day, this can slow down your treatment.

After your consultation with an orthodontist at our McMurray office, we can give you an idea of how long the treatment should take. We will also provide you with a treatment plan, that includes the treatment time estimate, the treatments we recommend, and the cost of the Invisalign treatment. If you wear your aligners as recommended, your treatment time should be close to what your orthodontist estimates.
