Dental Emergency? (724)942-8300
Having your braces removed is a joyful experience. It is important to keep in mind that once your braces have been removed, the care for your new smile is not over. After removal, the retention stage begins, and it is the key to the success of your treatment. This stage is crucial because your teeth will not be stable unless you wear your retainers. Retention can be achieved by wearing your retainers as recommended.
Your retainers are designed to keep your teeth from shifting out of their new position. All of our patients, whether they received treatment with braces or Invisalign , will require a retainer after their treatment is complete. Our orthodontist in McMurray can help you keep your teeth straight and aligned for a confident smile!
After you’ve completed your treatment with braces or Invisalign, the next phase in your treatment is the retention stage. By wearing your retainers, you can keep your teeth straight. If you do not wear your retainers consistently, your teeth will shift back into their original position.
This will require additional orthodontic treatment to realign them to the correct positions. At Severns Dentistry & Orthodontics, we want to avoid your teeth from shifting out of place, so we use retainers for all of our teen and adult patients who have completed treatment with braces or Invisalign.
If keeping your teeth in their new straight position is not reason enough, Severns Dentistry & Orthodontics wants you to wear your retainers as recommended for a variety of other crucial reasons:
With expertise in Orthodontics and General Dentistry, McMurray area patients can expect the best in dental care from our team. If you have any questions about the retention process or how to use your retainer properly, contact the experts at Severns Dentistry & Orthodontics today!
