Common Invisalign Myths
If you are looking for a way to straighten your teeth in a discreet, almost invisible way, then Invisalign is a great option for you! This system is a set of clear aligners that slowly and gently move your teeth into the ideal position.
While Invisalign is well-known, there are a variety of myths surrounding this treatment. To clear up these myths, we’ve put together a comprehensive list debunking the most common myths.
Invisalign works slower or faster than other orthodontic treatments.
Some may assume that traditional or lingual braces work faster than Invisalign, but it is not true. Patients with mild to moderate malocclusion are likely to see results at six months of treatment. Invisalign treatment, on average, will take about 12 to 18 months. This is the same timeframe you can expect to wear traditional braces.

Invisalign treatment will not work as well as traditional braces.
Traditional braces have been a popular option for orthodontic treatment, but we now have options such as Invisalign with modern technology. These clear aligners are designed with the same concept as traditional braces, but they are clear, discreet, and customized to suit your dental structure.
The Invisalign system works very much like traditional braces by slowly moving the teeth into the ideal position. Each treatment will correct a mild to severe malocclusion and provide a range of treatments for an overbite, crossbite, and gaps.
Invisalign does not require the same attention to oral hygiene.
Because Invisalign clear aligners are removable, there is less food particle build-up. Although you can remove them, you still need to care for and clean the aligners with a soft-bristle brush to remove plaque. You also need to rinse your mouth or brush your teeth after eating or drinking before putting your aligners back in. You certainly need to pay attention to your oral hygiene and the care for your aligners while using Invisalign.
Invisalign will not be covered by insurance.
This is not true. Several insurance providers will cover the cost of Invisalign, either fully or partially. Be sure to speak with your provider for more details of what your coverage includes.
